Heather A. Hauck was raised in Orillia, Ontario, most of her life spent residing in Atherley with her family. Heather attended Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Arts Degree.

She is married with three beautiful daughters. She has continued with her love and interest in the arts, doing commission work mostly in landscapes and nature scenes. She has dabbled in some folk art and custom framing. Heather has participated in the Orillia Streets Alive Outdoor Art project and won prizes two of the years.

Heather hopes you will be inspired by her works of art. She has enjoyed many hours in the process of creating them.

Colours of Canada

Margret grew up in the Maritimes, but has lived and travelled across Canada. From one side of the country to the other, one constant is the richness of the colours that make it so beautiful. Also constant are the wonderful stories that Canadians tell. Margaret likes to share her favourite stories through her paintings, using a vivid Canadian palette to bring them to life.

Artist Biography

Margaret Ann Paradis trained in oil and watercolour painting with many well known artists. She also studied drawing with charcoal and graphite and experimented with life studies using models.

Margaret Ann has exhibited at the John B. Aird gallery in Toronto, and at the By the Sea Boutique and the Ridge West Gallery in the Barrie area. She has been a featured artist at the Barrie Art Club Gallery and has participated in group shows at Orillia's Zephyr Gallery and the Barrie City Hall Rotunda. Her work can be found at The Edge Gallery in Barrie and in private collections across North America.

Joan Van Dewall  (OCAD, BA, B.Ed), a Whitby, Ontario Artist uses aspects of nature as her inspiration.  Working primarily in soft pastel, her work portrays both the drama of tonal contrasts, as well as the subtle nuances of colour harmonies evident in the landscape.
Through her work, she hopes to engage the viewer to revisit quiet vistas of lake, stream, field and forest, throughout the changing seasons.

Drop by the Gallery during the month of September 2013 to view Joan's beautiful soft pastel work!

From the Artist:

What are Soft Pastels?
Pastels are powdered pigments, often minerals, which are ground into a paste with a small amount of gum arabic, a binding agent, so that they can be formed into sticks. Pastels are the most permanent of all the art mediums because there are no liquid binders that might cause them to fade, darken, yellow, crack or blister over time. There are pastel paintings done in the 16th century which still look as bright and vivid as the day they were painted.

Care of Pastel Paintings
My works done in soft pastel were executed on specialized paper or board which was prepared with fine pumice to create a sand-paper-like surface, to which the pastel will readily adhere. Several layers of pastel can be built up on this surface and do not usually need to be sprayed with fixative to ensure their permanence. It is important, however, that the work not be subjected to undue, sudden, jarring motions in order to prevent surface pastel from dislodging. When transporting the work, it is advisable to lay it face-up on a cushioned surface. As with any work of art, it should not be hung in direct sunlight, to prevent fading over time
